Why purchase Travel Insurance?
It is essential to be insured when travelling. Medical and liability costs can run to the tens of thousands, cancelling your holiday could mean losing some or all of the money you have paid, having access to a 24 hour assistance service means help is always at the end of a telephone.
Having travel insurance gives you peace-of-mind when travelling, allowing you to enjoy your holiday.

Single Trip, Annual Multi-Trip or Gap?
Insurancebookers offers the following types of insurance policy type:

Single Trip Travel Insurance
These policies cover you for a Single Trip or holiday and offer the best value for travellers who only travel once a year. Insurancebookers offer Single Trip insurance in the following forms; Standard, Senior 65+, Winter Sports, Business and Golf. The maximum age for a seniors 65+ Single Trip policy is 74. For more information on these policies please see the next section entitled The types of Single Trip cover available.

Annual Multi Trip Travel Insurance
Annual Multi Trip policies cover you for as many journeys as you like during a full year, but the maximum length of any one trip is 45 days. Annual Travel Insurance also includes 17 days cover for winter sports such as skiing and snow boarding. Annual multi trip policies may offer considerable saving on purchasing individual Single Trip policies. The maximum age for an annual multi policy is 64 years of age.

Gap Travel Insurance
Gap policies are designed with the budget traveller in mind and are only available to individuals under 35 years of age. Gap policies are available in 3,6,9 and 12 month durations and automatically include cover for some adventure activities and winter.

The Types of Single Trip of cover available

Senior 65+

The Senior 65+ Cover is specially designed for individuals aged 65 to 74. The Senior 65+ policies include the same benefits as the standard Single Trip policies and are available in Silver, Gold and Platinum levels of cover.

Winter Sports cover
If you are looking forward to go on a winter-sports holiday sometime over the next year, then the winter sports cover is ideal for you. Winter Sports cover will insure you for on-piste skiing and your ski equipment will be covered whether owned by you or hired. You will also be covered for piste closures and avalanches as well as valuable medical expenses cover should you require it.

Golf Cover

If you are planning on playing golf while you are away then you should consider adding the Golf Cover option to your Single Trip travel insurance policy. By selecting The Golf Cover option your equipment will be insured against any damage in transit as well as hiring equipment if your clubs get stolen.

Business Cover

If you are planning to take a business trip the Business cover is ideal for you. The business cover provides you cover for the value of lost, stolen or damaged computer equipment, communication devices, or other business related equipment.

What is an excess waiver?

For a small premium, the excesses applicable on our Silver and Gold policies can be waived to ensure you are not charged for making a claim.

Help with traveller type options

How do you define an individual?

All travellers aged between 18 and 64 (or 74 if a seniors 65+ policy is purchased) are considered 'individual' travellers. An 'individual' traveller must be a resident of the UK for at least 6 months prior to purchase of the policy.

How do you define a couple?

A couple consists of two persons (as an individual and their spouse or partner) aged between 18 and 64, who have lived together for at least 6 months. Each individual named on the insurance is considered to be separately insured hence individuals are still covered even if travelling separately. However, only Annual Multi-Trip policy gives a Couple cover. Both the travellers must have been residents of the UK for at least 6 months prior to purchase.

How do you define a family?

A family is defined as one or two adults (an individual and their spouse or partner) and their dependent or legally adopted children. It is essential for the partners to have lived together for 6 months or more and to be aged between 18 and 64, while the children should be under 18 at the date of purchase and should be either in full-time education or living with them. Each individual adult named on the insurance is considered to be separately insured hence they are still covered if travelling separately from main family. Children under 18 years of age are entitled to travel separately to the main insured person if they are travelling with a relative, guardian or person with a legal duty of care or if they are travelling with the intention of meeting up with parents or relatives upon arrival at their destination. All travellers must have been residents of the UK for at least 6 months prior to purchase.

Can my family travel independently with your Family / Couple Annual Multi Trip policy?

If you have purchased either a family or couple Annual Multi Trip policy you can travel independently from your spouse / partner. Children under 18 years of age are entitled to travel separately to the main insured person if they are travelling with a relative, guardian or person with a legal duty of care or if they are travelling with the intention of meeting up with parents or relatives upon arrival at their destination.

Are there any countries excluded under my insurance?

Yes, your policy does not cover any trip in, to or through the following countries; Afghanistan, Cuba, Liberia, or Sudan.

If I purchase Winter Sports cover am I covered for off-piste skiing / snowboarding?
Under our Winter Sports policy we cover off-piste skiing and snowboarding except in areas considered to be unsafe by resort management. We also cover cross-country skiing, monoskiing, blading, langlauf, ski boarding, tobogganing and glacier walking or trekking up to 4,000 metres.

Help with pre-existing medical conditions

This policy contains conditions relating to your health, the health of people travelling with you and the health of others who might not be travelling with you but on whose health the trip may depend (this would include a relative or a close business associate). In particular, claims will not be covered where at the time of taking out this insurance you, or any person on whose health the trip may depend (this would include a relative or a close business associate), have suffered from or received any form of medical advice or treatment or medication for:

any heart-related or blood circulatory condition (excluding mild*, well controlled hypertension suffered in isolation); or

(b) any breathing condition (excluding mild*, well controlled asthma suffered in isolation); or

(c) any cancerous condition in the last five years; and/or

(d) you or any person on whose health the trip may depend (this would include a relative or a close business associate) have been referred to or seen a hospital specialist or needed inpatient hospital treatment in the last year.

In this instance mild means you are taking no more than two types of medication for hypertension and in the case of asthma, you are using no more than two inhalers.

If you suffer from a medical condition, and you are unsure as to whether or not this insurance meets your needs, please ring the medical screening line on 0870 0440 281. Failure to declare a condition to the medical screening line will result in claims relating to the undisclosed condition not being covered.

credit card security code

Security Code? The card security code is a unique three or four-digit number printed on your debit/credit card. This number is not embossed on the card and hence not printed on receipts - making it difficult for anyone other than the genuine cardholder, to know it. Some card issuers refer to this number as the 'Card Security Code' others as the 'personal security code' and others as 'Card Verification Value'

Credit Card CV2 Example

Most cards have a set of numbers printed at the top of the signature strip on the reverse of the card, the final three-digit number is your security code.
